2019 Sauvignon Blanc~Willamette Valley AVA
The previous vintages of our Sauvignon Blanc have been made entirely of La Chenaie Vineyard fruit from the Eola-Amity AVA, and we continue to be fortunate to be able to obtain fruit from this unique small vineyard site. In 2019 we had the opportunity to purchase Sauvignon Blanc grapes from one of the most well known vineyards to grow this varietal in the Willamette Valley, Croft Vineyard. This vineyard is West of Salem, and SW of the Eola-Amity AVA. We entertained the idea of two separate bottlings of the sedimentary, (Croft Vineyard) and volcanic, (La Chenaie Vineyard) vineyards, but ultimately decided that the blend of vineyards created the most balanced and complete wine.
90% barrel fermented in neutral French oak, 10% stainless steel. 8 months on lees, no ML, weekly stirring for the first 2 months. 60% Croft Vineyard, 40% La Chenaie Vineyard (both vineyards farmed organically).
This wine follows a similar theme from the previous two years releases, even with a new vineyard source. True to the variety it displays classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas of lime, gooseberry and cut grass which is tempered by pear, lemon and melon fruits. There is a creamy weightiness to this wine which is balanced nicely by a generous amount of mineral rich acidity.
