2019 Yamhill Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir
2019 Yamhill Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir
This Vineyard lies in the foothills of the coast range in the Yamhill Carlton AVA. It is fairly unique within the AVA in that it has both Willakenzie and Jory soil types present, (sedimentary and volcanic). It has 15 planted acres and was established in 1988. The vineyard is farmed organically. We sourced just under 3 tons of fruit from two blocks of Wadenswil clone from the mid slope section of the vineyard which is west facing at approximately 500 feet in elevation.
Even though the 2019 vintage saw fairly significant amounts of rain in the middle of September, this fruit held up exceptionally well and required little sorting. Two fermenters, one at 50% whole cluster the other at 30%. This 75 case blend comes from a 50/50 mix of both fermenters. Primary and secondary fermentations occurred spontaneously, and 10 months elevage in neutral French oak.
A complex nose of floral fruit and spice. Ripe red raspberry and blackberry, amaryllis flower mixed with pink peppercorn spice. Mid weight tannins with focus, length and balance.
13.0% Alc.
